Mitchell Scott is a born and bred New Yorker who grew up in the South Bronx and now resides in Corona, Queens. He has been involved with HeartShare Human Services since 2009 and has been an official member of the HeartShare Board since 2020. He strongly believes in HeartShare’s mission of providing services and support to individuals and families in the ID/DD community. He hopes more individuals can have the tools they need for successful, independent lives with the help of HeartShare.
Mitchell’s dedication and commitment are not limited to his involvement with HeartShare. For over 15 years, he has been a dedicated steward at Guitar Center in Manhattan, advocating for his fellow employees. His passion for advocacy is also evident in his legislative advocacy work in Albany for individuals in HeartShare and SCO family services since 2004. Mitchell takes great pride in helping other individuals with disabilities in different areas he’s knowledgeable in and is happy to guide others through what it’s like to work and have a disability. Mitchell’s next significant accomplishment on his journey of personal and professional growth is achieving his GED, a stepping stone toward his ultimate goal of attending college.
