HeartShare’s short film “A Love Beyond” is an Official Selection at not one, not two, not three, but four national film festivals: The Awareness Festival, the Justice Film Festival, the New York City Independent Film Festival and Retrospective of Jupiter.
The four-minute film, which debuted at HeartShare’s 2021 Gala, profiles Lenin, a nonverbal 39-year-old New Yorker with Down syndrome who lost his father—his last remaining family member—to COVID-19. Lenin’s journey reveals what it means to find love in empathy and a new home in the hearts of those who support us. His story is told by Alicia Tennenbaum, Senior Director, Department of Social Work and Case Management, Mount Sinai Beth Israel, and Ihuoma (Oma) .K. Chukwu, Manager of HeartShare’s Ferraro Residence, who delivers a heartbreakingly beautiful narration.
“A Love Beyond” was directed by Zen Pace and produced by Impact Movies, with executive production by Larry Closs and Andrew Moeller of HeartShare’s Communications & Marketing team.
