HeartShare Human Services accepted a generous $10,000 from Dominion Transmission for two of its energy funds assisting low-income customers throughout New York State.

“Families facing a harsh winter and financial difficulties are in dire need of this energy assistance fund. A grant allows a family to stay warm during the cold north country winter,” said HeartShare Vice President for Energy Assistance and Community Development Joe Guarinello.

The Care & Share Heating Fund offers a $200 grant to eligible low-income National Grid customers in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island. The Project SHARE Heating Fund offers up to $350 to New Yorkers facing an energy emergency with special consideration given to active members of the military and veterans.

“Dominion Transmission is proud to continue our support these heating funds,” said Stan J. Ossowski, Northern Area Manager for Dominion. “We also want to recognize National Grid, as well as NYSEG and RG&E for creating this important energy assistance program to provide critical support to those most in need.”

In 2016, HeartShare received the prestigious Victorine Q. Adams Excellence Award from NEUAC, an awareness-raising coalition for low-income energy consumers, for its role in creating the largest national network among utility companies, elected officials and community organizations assisting thousands of energy insecure households annually.
